What The Haywain has raised for The Pilgrims Hospices during Spring & Summer 2024
Real Ales, Home Cooked Food & Accommodation
Built around 1790’s, The Haywain is situated in the heart of the picturesque East Kent countryside, on the A257 between Littlebourne & Wingham, with a conveniently located bus stop on the main Canterbury to Sandwich & Deal bus routes.
We have a large beer garden where we regularly stage events and there is plenty of off-road parking.
Our home cooked food has been recognised by awards from The Taste of Kent.
We offer traditional pub classics as well as daily specials and snacks and our meat and vegetables are locally sourced – including eggs from our own chickens.
We are well known for our real ales and were recently recognised with a CAMRA silver award for Canterbury pub of the year 2020 and we use local breweries and guest beers from around the country.
Eating
Home cooked food using only the finest locally sourced produce featuring traditional pub classics and daily specials.
Drinking
Recognised by CAMRA for our Real ales we also have an extensive selection of great wines that you can enjoy with your meal.
Accommodation
Looking for somewhere to stay? We have a beautifully revovated one bedroom Coach House available to accommodate up to four people.
Entertainment
With regular pub quizzes, bands, beer festivals and entertainment in the garden there is always something going on at The Haywain.

What’s happened at The Haywain
On March 18th we held our first Cricket Evening where 3 Kent Cricket legends – Alan Ealham (1970-80s), Bob Wilson (1950-60s) and Geraint Jones (1990-2000s) – see pic below – joined us for a sell-out evening with a fascinating Q & A session and much reminiscing!

We always have a varied selection of real ale on our four hand pumps: Bombardier, London Pride, plus two guest ales including at least one from a local brewery.
